Instructions

1

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a loaf pan or line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, onion, garlic, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and thyme. Mix gently until just combined.

3

Transfer the mixture to the prepared loaf pan or shape into a loaf on the baking sheet.

4

In a small bowl, mix together the glaze ingredients: ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard. Spread half of the glaze over the meatloaf.

5

Bake for 45 minutes, then spread the remaining glaze over the top. Continue baking for another 15 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).

6

Remove from oven and let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Chef's Tips

  • Don't overmix: Overmixing can make the meatloaf dense. Mix just until ingredients are combined.
  • Use a meat thermometer: Ensure the meatloaf reaches 160°F (71°C) for safe consumption.
  • Let it rest: Allowing the meatloaf to rest before slicing helps retain its juices.
  • Add veggies: Incorporate finely chopped carrots or bell peppers for extra nutrition.
  • Leftovers: Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
